Not to be pigeon-holed by any particular style, the Fat Cats have made significant in-roads within the “Jamband” genre, not only for themselves, but for a collection of other bands as well by creating an accessibility to the scene that reaches a larger group of music fans. Often being revered as the pioneers of the craft in Canada, the free flowing and uninhibited style of playing has been a specialty of the band since their inception over 25 years ago. The everlasting chemistry between the players has kept this ideal blooming throughout their history, and forges the future of their unmistakable sound and groove.

Always maintaining an organic nature that pays homage to many great singers and songwriters, the sound takes on an electrifying groove that draws on all popular genres in the last 60 years. The song writing, while timely and lyrically relevant, possesses an ageless quality that speaks to all generations of listeners; basically, if you like music, you will like the Fat Cats. The band has shown their infectious groove makes them a sure bet to both draw a crowd, and entertain.

Fat Cats Line-up

Adam Bernstein - Drums Chris Gatchene - Guitar and Vocals Todd Gillies - Guitar and Vocals Dave Hill - Bass Josh Williams - Keys and Beard

Slammin Jack was formed in 2002, when longtime jam partners Rich Martin (guitar) and Scott Daniels (keys) teamed up with a powerhouse rhythm section in the form of Sean Scallion (drums) and Martin Ayerst (bass). They quickly built a grassroots following playing small venues in the Commercial Drive neighbourhood in East Vancouver. After adding jam band veteran Jeffrey Kornblum (percussion) to their lineup, the boys took their show on the road, touring almost steadily for 5 years and playing hundreds of shows coast to coast, finally hanging their hats up for good in 2006. Or so we thought...

Presenting the long awaited reunion nobody believed would ever really happen: Slammin Jack in the original lineup. Pull out your muppets stuffies and dust off your dance shoes, the psychedelic jam-grass dance-floor trance-funk extravaganza is back. Older and wiser, yes, but don’t turn your back, or they’ll steal your face right off your head.

The Unseen Strangers

The Unseen Strangers have ambitiously cultivated a musical identity shaped by good old-fashioned bluegrass, the limitless barrage of contemporary musical influences, and a curious sense of humor.

Newgrass ambassadors, The Unseen Strangers favor innovation over convention. For their newest album, Stranger Places(April 1st, 2016), the band challenged the limits of what they are capable of, exploring the gamut of what can be done with strings. The result is a collection of fun, stunning songs featuring inimitable instrumental performances.

The seven-part instrumental kick off “Ice Jam” launches the listener on an expansive journey through nine original songs, including the three-piece horn section funkiness of “Old City Jail” and the psychedelic newgrass epic “Square Trance”. The Strangers also pay homage to their bluegrass roots on “Wicked Lover” and the freight train inspired barnburner “New Railroad Blues”.

For Stranger Places, the band simplified their approach to the studio with quick, concise live off the floor sessions. The band teamed up with Toronto, ON based engineer and producer Andrew Collins (Creaking Tree String Quartet; Foggy Hogtown Boys), recording the album over several months in 2015.

The band was started in 2008 by Adam Shier, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and driving force behind The Unseen Strangers. Adam fell in love with the sound of Bluegrass while attending college in Halifax and was soon recruiting his best friends to be in a Bluegrass band. The band quickly recorded an album and were excited to win a Music Nova Scotia Award in 2009 for Bluegrass/Country Album of the Year. The group has grown immensely from these small beginnings but a similar goal remains, to play new energetic bluegrass music with respect to the incredible lineage of its tradition.

The Strangers approach to bluegrass is open-ended yet inclusive; they’ve been on the roster for several forward thinking festivals, including Delfest, where they won the band competition in 2013. The Unseen Strangers continue to add to their diverse festival resume while consistently developing their sound both onstage and in the studio.

“These guys are good”~ CBC Radio

“The Unseen Strangers aren’t pretending to be cowboys. They’ll interrupt themselves for an instrumental breakdown of I Like To Move It…”~ The Globe and Mail

Must Stash Hat A Must Stash Hat show feels like it lasts for days while you're in it but when they end their last note, everyone is still screaming for ten more songs. Your body won't stop moving while they transition from an upbeat rocking chorus into a jazzy and relaxing hypnotic refrain before stretching it out, twisting it up into outer space and verging ever so close to awkward before exploding back in a most satisfying cymbal ridden rhythm, bass slappin' and bappin' on the hips of high laughing guitar chords pulling at the off beats. Must Stash Hat is a three piece Toronto based jam band and the best way to see them is live and unshaven. As they near their tenth year of playing together, their talent for improvisation is powerful. These moustache men know each other too well to miss a beat.

After Funk

Musical boundaries are something that After Funk is simply not afraid to break. Since its beginnings as a four piece funk experiment, After Funk has steadily grown into an eight member collective that is now known for bringing groovy dance music wherever it goes. Even with its constant evolution, the group has stayed true to its mission of bringing back the good vibes of yesteryear. With roots in London, Hamilton, and Toronto, the group is no stranger to travelling and can be found performing wherever people want to have a good time.

Entering its third year as a group, After Funk has played shows across Ontario and Quebec including opening spots for Walk off the Earth, Snarky Puppy, Dumpstaphunk, Five Alarm Funk, and Boogie Wonder Band. The group's first EP, "Soul'd," offers 5 tracks that range from the relaxing stylings of "Lay it Back" to the high energy funk of the group's self-titled track "After Funk." Looking forward, a second conceptual album is in the works for a 2013 release.
